Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006 Elizabeth Janice Haynes, age 82, also known as Janice, of Prescott, Ariz. died Oct. 28, 2006, at her home. Janice was born May 31, 1924, in Casper, Wyoming to George and Grace (O'Keefe) Jaques. The youngest of three children, Janice graduated from The Bishop's School in La Jolla, Calif. in 1941. She entered Stanford University the year of Pearl Harbor. The war changed Stanford greatly and focused her attention on her studies. Janice graduated in 1945, with Great Distinction as a Phi Beta Kappa and staff editor of the Stanford Daily (she was the pre-war women's" editor). Janice received her Master's Degree and teaching credentials at Claremont Graduate School and taught school before becoming a research assistant to the Director of the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., were she met David C. Haynes. They were married in 1951 and would be celebrating their 54th wedding anniversary this December. Janice was the Migrant Coordinator at Paloma School located on the largest ranch in southern Arizona. They then moved to Prescott, and she worked at the Humboldt School District and the Yavapai Indian Tribe as Coordinator. Janice retired from the Humboldt School District. She remained active in the P.E.O. and the A.D.K. Janice is survived by her husband, Dennis; their two children, Judy and David; and three grandchildren, Tamara Haynes-Norton, David Haynes-Norton, and Jessica Haynes. A Memorial Service will take place today, Oct. 31, at 10 am at St. Lukes Episcopal Church, Prescott. The Hampton Funeral Home of Prescott was entrusted with the arrangements.
