The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/19/2006 Richard Wayne Vandemark, Jr., 43, of Show Low, died Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006 at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care in Lakeside. Richard was born Sept. 18, 1962, at Springfield, Ohio, the son of Richard, Sr. and Doris (Medows) Vandemark. He was raised and attended school in Tucson, graduating from Sunnyside High School in 1980. He served in the U.S. Army as a Ranger. He was married to Robbie Cundiff July 3, 1984, in Tucson. He worked as a furniture builder and corrections officer, and came to Show Low in 2004. Richard was an artist who could draw anything. He had his own line of furniture, Avalon. He received Honorable Mention from the President for building a playground for German children. He was a member of Whitestone Christian Fellowship in Tucson. He loved hunting and fishing. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. Richard is survived by his wife, Robbie, of the home; a daughter, Christina (Ramon) Ochoa of Tucson; three sons, Kevin Vandemark of Show Low, Roy Vandemark of Tucson and Josh Vandemark of Texas; sister, Christine Tindle of Ft. Scott, Kan.; two brothers, Tim Vandemark of Lakeside and Eric Vandemark of Tucson; his parents, Richard and Doris Vandemark of Tucson; and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 18, at Black's Mortuary Chapel in Show Low, with Pastor Bob Midyett officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home beginning at 9 a.m. until service time. Interment will be at Lakeside Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Black's Mortuary, Show Low.
