| Winterset Madisonian Winterset, Iowa February 17, 1993 Erna Scherm, Yuma, Arizona Erna C. Scherm, 89, a former Winterset resident, died February 4, 1993 at Life Care Center in Yuma, Ariz. Private services and cremation were arranged by Ryzek Yuma Mortuary and Crematory. Memorial services and internment in Winterset are pending. Born in Schweinfurt, Germany on July 28, 1903, she was a retired homemaker, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and active in church functions. A former volunteer with the Senior Citizen Center she entertained with the "Hillbilly Band". Prior to moving to Winterset in 1970, she was a resident of Queens Village, N. Y. where she helped her husband, Conrad, in a jewelry business. She moved to Yuma in 1988. She was preceded in death by her husband, siblings and son-in-law, Elzia Beem. Surviving relatives include her daughter, Erika Gorman and husband Ernest of Yuma; grandsons, Richard Beem of Casa Grande, Ariz., Rod Beem of Winterset and Karl Beem of Liberty, Mo.; a niece, Doris Guay of Kent, Ohio; and six great-grandchildren. |
