Asa Charles (A.C.) Nelson, 87, of DuBois, Pennsylvania died in early July at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Nelson was a longtime winter resident of Wickenburg and a member of Rancho de los Caballeros.

He was a well-known businessman in the DuBois area who founded Nelson Furs.

Mr. Nelson was born June 26, 1904 in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. He has lived in DuBois since 1938.

He was a member of the Greater DuBois Christian Fellowship Church.

He was a businessman in DuBois for many years and in addition to Nelson Furs, he founded the DuBois Manor Motel.

Mr. Nelson was also a member of the Shikar Safari Club; Spider Lake Corporation; was a former member of the DuBois
Country Club; Salvation Army; Kiwanis Club; DuBois-Jefferson Co. Airport Authority; Penn State Education Association, DuBois Campus; and the DuBois Rifle and Pistol Club.

He was a big game hunter who had made expeditions to the Arctic and Africa. His trophies were exhibited at Nelson Furs and the DuBois Manor Motel for many years. He later donated them to Mansfield State University, Mansfield, Pennsylvania.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth (Buys) Nelson; three sons, Lee P. of DuBois, Lewis N. of Clearfield, Penn., and R. Lynn of San Leandro, Calif.; four daughters, Mrs. Robert H. (Louise) Lindberg, Mrs. E. Wayne (Jeanette) Carns, Mrs. Robert I. (Lucille) Flegal and Mrs. Donald W. (Patricia) Rhone, all of Clearfield.

He is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Margeurite Whitehill, Mrs. Miriam Amstutz and Mrs. Thelma Buono, all of Sun City; and a brother, Edwin C. Nelson, of Rockton, Pennsylvania.

Also surviving are two stepsons, 18 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
