Rodolfo Ramos Fontes

Rodolfo Ramos Fontes, 87, passed away in Phoenix Friday, Jan. 12, 2007.

He was born in Sonora Jan. 1, 1920 and worked for Kennecott Copper for 35 years as a miner. He belonged to the United Steelworkers of America and enjoyed prospecting on his own for old treasure. Mr. Fontes also liked tinkering, building and fixing things for general maintenance.

Left behind in loving memory are his wife, Virginia Fontes of Superior; sons, Manuel (Shannon) of Casa Grande, Rodolfo of Buckeye and Carlos (Belinda) of Tempe; a brother, Salvador Fontes of Superior; a sister, Amparo Fontes of Superior; and five grandchildren.

A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Thursday, Jan. 18. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father Francis Iber at St. Francis at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, with interment following at Fairview Cemetery.

Superior Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements
