Margaret (Marge) Preston, 87, died Feb. 22 in Wickenburg. She was born Feb. 23, 1897 in Enid, Okla.

She came to Wickenburg in 1930 and lived here for 54 years.

She and her husband, Joe, owned and operated a restaurant in the building now occupied by the Chaparral Ice Cream Parlor and Bakery. After a fire destroyed the restaurant, she worked many years at the Wickenburg Pharmacy at the lunch counter.

She was very active in the War Bond drive during World War II in Wickenburg. She was also a longtime member of Wickenburg’s first Presbyterian Church, and was a member of the Elk’s Ladies Auxiliary in Wickenburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors include one son, Miles T. Preston, of Wickenburg; two granddaughter, Linda Blomeyer, of Wickenburg and Bonnie Weber, of Phoenix and four great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted Feb. 25 at the First Southern Baptist Church in Wickenburg at 10 a.m. with Delbert Henderson officiating; Interment was in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Arrangements were made through the Wickenburg Funeral Home.
