James T. Douglas, of Paulden, Ariz., died Nov. 18, 2005,at the age of 65. He was an Arizona resident for five years.

He is survived by wife, Marcia; sons, Jack of Studio City, Calif. and Andrew of Seattle, Wash.; four grandchildren, Fletcher, William, Aidan
and Gage; sister, Randi Douglas of Portland, Ore.; and brother, Bruce Douglas of Lake Oswego, Ore.

Jim was born April 6, 1940, in Perry, Iowa, the son of James S. and Ruby
G. Douglas. He graduated from high school in 1958 in Salem, Ore., and served in the U.S. Navy from 1958-1960. Jim received his BA in theatre arts from Willamette University, Salem, Ore., in 1964.

His professional life was focused on the arts. Through the 60's and 70's, he was an exhibiting artist and independent filmmaker. His work included assemblages in boxes and welded steel sculpture. His 16 mm films won several awards and were distributed through independent film coops in New York, San Francisco and Australia. Most recently, he was
painting in oils and acrylics.

Jim was art director for the ABC-TV station in Portland, Ore. for six years and the corporate/industrial photographer for the Port of Portland for 18 years. Upon retiring, he worked on computer multimedia projects for historical museums and video projects. He was a member of the American Society of Media Photographers and Clan Douglas Society of North America, serving as Clan Douglas Regent for Arizona for the past four years.

Jim always put family first. He is lovingly remembered as an extraordinary husband, father, grandfather and brother, nurturing
his family with joy, humor, creativity and a wonderful sense of adventure. He loved to laugh and lived life to the fullest.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
