James Edwin Hulse, 76, of Prescott Valley, born May 10, 1929, in Shawnee, Okla., died Jan. 8, 2006, in Prescott Valley.

James Edwin Hulse went peacefully to be with the Lord on January 8, 2006. He was born to James and Enid Hulse of Shawnee, Oklahoma on May 29, 1929.

Jim is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, of 50 years; son, Steven James of Chino Valley; granddaughter, Veronica Ellingson of Mesa; two sisters, Elaine Schantz of Chesterfield, Mo., and LaNora Ward of Meridian, Miss., two brothers, LaWayne Hulse of Garfield, Texas, and Edgar Hulse of Old Hickory, Tenn.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Patricia Markley.

Jim served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge from the service, he joined the Wichita Kansas Police Department. He came to Arizona in 1960 and shortly thereafter joined the Phoenix police department. He ventured into several different occupations, including owning a couple of small restaurants in the greater Phoenix metro area. He retired in the early '90s as a Financial Advisor with A.L. Williams. He and his wife moved to Prescott Valley in 2000.

A Memorial service will be held at the Landmark Baptist Church in Prescott Valley, located at 7440 Addis Avenue, on Saturday, January 21 at 1:00 p.m.

The family has asked that in lieu of sending flowers, please make a donation to the Prescott Valley Adult Day Care Center, located at 3407 N. Windsong Drive, Prescott Valley, Ariz., 86314.
