Billie Jean Welch, age 75, of Prescott, went home to the Lord on Dec. 1,
2005. Billie was born Aug. 11, 1930, in Phoenix, to Billy and Threatie
Stroope.

Billie's parents were ranchers owning the Jay El Bar in Castle Hot
Springs before she was born, an alfalfa farm off lateral 22, in Glendale, a ranch on Deer Creek in Winkelman, and a ranch on Black Mesa. Her family moved to Prescott in 1942, and owned the Bullwhacker Ranch and acreage in the Meadowridge area.

Billie's parents divorced and her mother ran the Head Hotel and the Mingus Mountain Inn. Billie and her sisters helped their mom at both jobs.

Billie graduated from Prescott High School in 1948, the same year that
she was the Prescott Frontier Days Rodeo Queen. She graduated from Arizona State University in 1951, she then went on to USC to obtain her Masters and Administrative degrees.

Billie taught school in Coolidge, Los Angeles, Calif., Phoenix Union
High School, Prescott Mile High Middle School and Granite Mountain Junior High, retiring in 1986.

Her 18-year real estate started in the fall of 1986, joining the Fred Lindquist sales team. Billie acquired her Brokers License and G.R.I designation while with Fred Lindquist Realty. She was blessed in working with her fellow realtors and clients, many with whom she had lasting friendships.

Billie was a competitive golfer and golfed at least once a week on ladies day at Antelope Hills until her later years. She loved to play cards, gardening, her dogs, cats, chickens and geese and managing her
rentals.

But most of all, Billie loved the Lord Jesus Christ. She believed in the
King James Version of the Bible. She attended Miller Valley Baptist Church with her family. She supported the Chalcedon Foundation, where she met Rousas Rushdoony, its founder, 40 years ago. He was who God used to bring her unto salvation when she lived in Santa Monica, Calif.
We are eternally grateful she is now with the Lord.

Billie is survived by her son, Taylor and his wife, Pam; grandchildren, Julie and Wyatt; a sister, Jackie Moore of Eugene, Ore. And several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, June.

The family especially wishes to thank Billie's caregivers, Beth, Valerie, Donna, Wayland, Sherry and all the others - too numerous to mention.

They allowed Billie to stay at home during her final days, with her beloved dog, Lady.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at 1 p.m., at the Trinity Presbyterian Church.

Burial will follow at the Mountain View Cemetery, Prescott, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be sent to
the Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Association, Arizona Chapter, 5040 E. Shea Blvd., Suite 151, Scottsdale, Ariz., 85254.

The Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
