Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, Aug 18th, 2010 Jackson Henry, Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 79. He was surrounded by his family as he went home to be with his Heavenly Father. Jackson was born Feb. 2, 1931 in Old San Carlos, Arizona to Cecelia and Robert Henry, Sr. He met and married his wife Evelyn in 1950 and moved to Seneca, Arizona to work in the asbestos mine. He left the mine in 1958 and moved back to San Carlos with his family, where he began his career in law enforcement. He held several positions with the San Carlos Apache Tribal Police Department as well as serving as a Gila County Deputy Sheriff and then became a juvenile detention probation officer. He then advanced to the position of juvenile court judge and retired after 25 years in 1998. Feeling the need to further serve his tribe, he ran for the Peridot Tribal Council seat and served a four-year term. He was a member of Calvary Shadows Assembly of God Church in Globe and well known in the tribal community as a Warrior for Christ. He loved ministering to and praying for others, reading and studying his Bible, and weekly trips to Wal-Mart with his wife, Evelyn. And he really, really enjoyed Mexican food. Jackson is survived by his wife, Evelyn; children, Velma (Daniel) Billy, Carol (John, Sr.) Salazar, Mary Jane (Dennis) Dudley, Jackson (Melissa) Henry, Jr., Velda (Michael) Williams, Velveeta henry, and Jason (Barbara) Henry, Sr.; and 18 grandchildren. He also leaves behind a sister, Evalina Henry, and a brother, Robert Henry, Jr., as well as many nieces and nephews. Jackson was preceded in death by grandson, David Justin Jackson Dudley; sisters, Viola Taylor, Celina Perry, Joann Taylor, and Lorena Cobb; brothers, Ambrose and Clinton Henry, Sr., and parents Cecelia and Robert Henry, Sr. He will be greatly missed each and every day. A wake will be held at Jackson Henry, Sr.’s house on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010 at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 21 at 2 p.m. at Burdette Hall in San Carlos. |
