| Varela, Manuel Garcia Manuel Garcia Varela, 84, of Phoenix, owner of a grocery store, died Dec. 31, 1987, at St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center. He was born in Spain. Survivors include his wife, Thelma; daughters, Mary WINTHROP; Pilar QUESADA and Dora FROST; sons, Joe, Manuel and Tony; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
