Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, August 15, 2008 Colleen Russell Crawford Mrs. Crawford 1-29-27 to 8-3-08, age 81 Collie Crawford’s battle with cancer ended on Aug. 3, 2008, in San Diego, Calif., where she loved to spend the summers with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Al Crawford, Prescott car dealer, in 1999. She graduated from Prescott High School in 1944 and married Al in 1945 after his return from WWII. She resided in Prescott until 1972 when health issues took them to Scottsdale to live the remainder of their lives. Collie enjoyed her friends, bridge, golf and especially loved all the members of her family. She and Al were active all their years in Prescott with the original Hassayampa Country Club where she spearheaded the building of the children’s pool herself. In the early 1950s she started a social club for ladies call Sew & So, which still exists today. Collie is survived by three daughters, Jacki (Richard) Oelze, Jill (Pete) Bersell and Judy York; six grandchildren, Allyson (Dale) Lackey, Jamie Hines (Tim Vest), Raigan (Eric) Fundalewicz, Chris (Tara) Bersell, Toby (Kam) York and Casey (Susan) Hines; nine great-grandchildren, Clayton, Gracie, Hannah and Brenly Lackey, Carson and Ethan Hines, Kree and Coley Fundalewicz and Petey Bersell III; step-grandchildren Kiersa (Tim) Small and Jeff (Karla) Howes and their children, Barrett and Porter Small and Jack and Julia Howes. Collie had a wonderful life and treasured all the places she’s been and all the people she’s loved. A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at Arizona Country Club, 56th St. and Thomas Road in Scottsdale. The family requests memorials to your local Salvation Army.
