Lurlene (Babe) Atkinson

Lurlene “Babe” Atkinson, born July 27, 1921, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., went to be with her Savior on Aug. 4, 2008, at the age of 87. Babe and her late husband J.D. Atkinson were residents of Glendale for more than 50 years. She lived her life faithfully devoted to her family.

Babe is survived by her two daughters, Judie Wolf and husband David of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jeanne Grant and husband Neil of Prescott Valley. She was also a beloved grandmother to five grandchildren, David (Kim) Grant, Laura (Chris) Johnson, Ryan Wolf, Stacy Wolf and Bradley (Autumn) Grant; as well as proud great-grandmother to seven great-grandchildren who affectionately called her “G.G.”

Babe was a sweet, gentle, soft-spoken Southern lady whom we loved with all of our hearts. We will deeply miss her and cherish our memories of a life well lived.

Visitation in honor of Lurlene (“Babe”) will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz. Commemoration services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008, at First Southern Baptist Church, 2820 N. Pleasant View Dr., Prescott Valley, Ariz. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Glendale, Ariz.

Donations in Babe’s name may be made to YRMC Hospice of Prescott Valley or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Arrangements were entrusted to Sunrise Funeral Home.
