FLORENCE - Albert Mendoza, 79, of Florence died Jan. 8, 2007 at Apache Junction Health Center.

A private memorial service is pending.

Mr. Mendoza was born Nov. 15, 1927 in Nogales, Ariz., to Austreberto and Emilia (Molera) Mendoza. He spent his early years in Superior before moving to Florence. He served in the Army during World War II and was honorably discharged. He was a truck driver for Kennecott Copper Company, where he retired after 20 years. He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by four stepchildren, Marshall Aguilar of Florence, Estella Avenenti of Concho, Barbara Blanchard of Gatesville, Texas, and Toni Lee of Florence; two brothers, Henry Mendoza of Superior and Rudy "Fito" Mendoza of Tucson; a sister, Connie Otero of Tucson; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Rosie.

Arrangements were made by Harper Funeral Home in Phoenix.
