Conrad L. (Butch / Connie) Atwood

Conrad L. (Butch) or (Connie) Atwood, 65, of Mayer, Ariz. passed away Aug. 23, 2008. Conrad was born in Miami, Ariz., to Lynn and Nadine Atwood.

Conrad served four years in the Navy on the USS Regulus. After the service, he moved to Mesa and worked for the Salt River Project for 35 years before retiring to Mayer and fulfilling his dream of building his own home. Conrad was active in the Lions Club International where he had several offices during the past 32 years.

Conrad is survived by his wife, Eleanor; daughters, Michele, Susan, Ashley and Brittany; sister Carolyn and her husband Dave McMahon; sister Jean and her husband Bill Dunn; brother Don and his wife Paula; and son-in-law Owen Zorge. His sense of humor and his love of life were a source of admiration and strength to all who knew him.

A celebration of Conrad’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 6, 2008, at Velda Rose United Methodist Church, Moore Hall, 5540 E. Main St., Mesa, Az., 85205.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Conrad’s favored organizations, Song of Life United Methodist Church, Arizona Lions Projects: Lions Camp Tatiyee, Lions Foundation of Arizona, Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, or The Melvin Jones Lions International Memorial; or Leader Dog for the Blind.
