Casey Vaughn James died Aug. 22, 2008, at his home in Prescott Valley, Ariz. He was born Aug. 15, 1968, in Bishop, Calif., the son of Edward L. James Sr. and Darlene Thompson. Casey was 40 years old.

Casey with his mother and brother Edward lived in Oakland, Calif., for over 35 years; before recently moving to Prescott Valley.

Casey is survived by his father, Edward James Sr. and his wife, Lois Leenaars-James of Prescott; mother, Darlene Thompson of Prescott Valley; his brother, Edward James Jr. of Prescott Valley; his half-sisters, Esther (Marcos) Avila of Camp Verde, Yolanda (Herbert) Trujillo of Middle Verde and Melissa (Robert) James Eastman of Chandler, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Anthony Franklin and Rodney L. James; his sister, Stacey A. Gabe; and his maternal grandmother who helped to raise him, Nellie L. Thompson.

Service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at the Gathering Center, Yavapai Prescott Reservation; 530 E. Merritt, Prescott, Ariz., with visitation two hours prior.

Burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at the Lone Pine Indian Cemetery, Lone Pine, Calif.
