Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Friday, August 22, 2008 Sara Potter, 76, of Prescott, Ariz., born Dec. 26, 1931, in Gilbert, Ariz., passed away Aug. 19, 2008, in Prescott. A memorial service will be 5:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Heritage Memory Mortuary. A celebration of life will follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Cortez Street in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Granite Mountain Hospice. Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted with the arrangements. ----------------------------------- Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, August 31, 2008 Sara Potter, age 76, passed away Aug. 19, 2008. She was born Dec. 26, 1931, in Gilbert, Ariz., to Edmond and Susie Verrue nee Nunez. Sara was Valedictorian of her graduating class and a National Honor’s Society member. She moved to Prescott in the early 1950s and worked for Western Union. She met the love of her life and best friend “Dutch” and they were married in December 1955. Sara was a softball coach and volleyball player in Prescott. Her greatest joy in life was to hunt, fish, and camp alongside “Dutch.” She achieved her pilot’s license early in life but chose not to pursue it as a career. Sara was a volunteer at the Eagle’s Club and was involved in many fundraisers as well as being president of the Eagle’s Caravan Club. Sara was always an upbeat, happy, positive and supportive person. One of Sara’s many gifts was her artistic abilities. She enjoyed her membership with the Gourd Club up until her illness. Sara was brave and stayed courageous while battling arthritis and failing health. She kept an amazingly appreciative, and courteous attitude until the end. The family would like to thank Granite Mountain Hospice for helping Sara and the family through this difficult time. Sara is survived by her husband Martin “Dutch” Potter; her daughter Marti (Rich) Biel; her son Mark Potter, all of Prescott, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Erin, Lindsey, Tyger and Tyanna; and her brother Earnest Verrue of Springfield, Mo. A memorial service will be at 5:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5, 2008, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Cortez Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Granite Mountain Hospice, 3107 Clearwater Drive, Prescott, AZ 86305.
