Daniel Ruiz Angulo (Papa), 77, of Phoenix, a retired Federal employee, died November 4, 2005. He was born April 13, 1928 in Phoenix, a second generation Arizonan, and served in the U.S. Army before becoming a fulltime National Guard officer, retiring at rank of Lt. Colonel after more than thirty years of service.

He lived a life of service and always was ready to help his friends and family with whatever they needed. Daniel was a member of St. Agnes parish for forty years and Corpus Christi parish for ten years. He was a graduate of Arizona State University and a founding member of the Vesta Club, a service organization dedicated to raising scholarship funds for youth. Daniel was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Dorine Culling Angulo; his children, Valerie Lauerman (Thomas), Daniel L. (Karyn), Ronald (Cinda), Denise LaFave (John), Lawrence (Christi), Joseph (Yolanda), Andrea Gutierrez, and Julie Angulo (Duane). He is survived by a brother, Arthur and a sister Carmen Vargas. He left ten grandchildren: Sara Lauerman, Marissa Angulo, Nicole Angulo, Daniel LaFave, Alyssa Angulo, Alex Angulo, Mia Angulo, Joseph Gutierrez, Nicholas Angulo and Leah Angulo. Also three step grandchildren: Robin Berning, Trace Cimins, Brandon Martinez; and five step great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren, Amy and Maria; by his parents, Pablo and Luz Angulo; and by his brothers, Gustavo, Paul, David, Louis, Gilbert, Henry, Leo and Adam.

Visitation and Rosary service at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home Chapel, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, AZ. Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary's Basilica, 231 N. 3rd St., Phoenix, AZ, with interment immediately following at St. Francis Cemetery, 2033 N. 48th St., Phoenix, AZ.
