Harper, Joe Joe Harper, 68, died peacefully on March 1, 2006. Joe was born on November 16, 1937 in Phoenix to Tod and Myrtle Harper, who preceded him in death. He attended North High School and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in engineering. After graduating, he started his career with TPAC, a division of Kiewit Western Company, and worked there for 45 years and served as senior vice president of the company. During his tenure at TPAC, Joe was involved in several high-profile projects in the Valley, including construction of Chase Field, Cardinal Stadium, US Airways Center, and Terminals 3 & 4 at Sky Harbor Airport, and more. Joe was dedicated to his community and served as a member of the Phoenix 100 Rotary for nearly 30 years. Joe is survived by his dear wife of 45 years, Helen Louise (Haldiman) Harper; sons Greg Harper and his partner Michael Miller, Steven Harper, his wife Sarah, their two children, his beloved grandchildren, Lillian, 2, and Owen, 6 months; his sister Sandra and her husband Dennis Whitman of Pinetop, AZ, and their two children, his nephews, Tod and Marc. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ann Haldiman Berry, his niece Debra Moran, and his nephews Rick Berry and John Berry. Joe was dearly loved by his family, his friends, and the community he served. He leaves behind a legacy of family, of love, of dedication and of hope, a legacy that will continue to nurture and support all those that Joe's life so deeply touched. Funeral service was at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Road. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
