Garth Stevens Black

Garth Stevens Black, 63, passed away at his home on September 3, 2003.

Born January 4, 1940 in Moab, Utah and raised in nearby Monticello, Garth spent his early years excelling in school, athletics, and was an avid hunter. He later attended the University of Utah as a business major. Garth served a mission for his church in the North Central States Mission, and later served in the Army. Professionally, he was skilled in land development and real estate, his attention to detail and unique vision evident in any project he was associated with.

Garth was preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, three brothers, one sister, and a son, Garrett. He is survived by sons Stephen (Char) of St. George, UT, Bradley (Alicia) of Gilbert, and Bennett of Gilbert, daughter Blakely of Gilbert, sisters Doris (Joe) Foy of Mesa and Claire (Don) Northern of Phoenix, brother Duane (Pam) of Mesa, and six grandchildren.

Services were held on Saturday, September 6, 2003 at the Mesa 12th Ward Building at 2152 E. Adobe Street, Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. Bunker's University Chapel, 480-830-4105.
