Richard Michael Flores, 52, went peacefully to be with our Lord. Richard was born in Ray Sonora, Arizona to Ernestina (Ernie) MONTEZ FLORES and Richard Mendez Flores. Richard moved to Phoenix with his family in 1960 where he was enrolled in Kindergarten at St. Thomas the Apostle School. He graduated from St. Thomas and attended Camelback High School, where he lettered in football and baseball. He then attended and graduated from Arizona State University and was an avid Sun Devil sports fan, especially Devil's football (he hated the UofA Wildcats). Richard went on to work his entire career in the restaurant business, having worked at, or help manage, The Salt Cellar, Avanti's, Richardson's, and The Bamboo Club. He also had his own restaurant, The Tango Grill.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard Flores. He is survived by his daughter, Trina Brielle Flores, mother, Ernie Flores, long-time partner Ellen Toomey, brother Will "Chico" Flores, sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Charlie Dries Jr. and his former wife, Susan Flores. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Betsie, Ellie, Chuck, and R.C. (Richard Charles) Dries, who is also his Godson. Richard will be remembered for his generous and kind heart and spirit, and his zest for life (and Sun Devil's football). A Funeral Mass for Richard was held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 11001 N. 40th Street, Phoenix 85028, with Interment at St. Francis Cemetery. A celebration of his life was held afterwards at the home of Carol and Charlie. All are welcome to attend and enjoy Richard's favorite green chile burritos made by his best friend, Steve Williams. Arrangements have been entrusted to Whitney and Murphy Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to St. Vincent De Paul Society at St. Joseph's Church.
