| The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ September 4, 2008 Robert "Bob" Hagy died Aug. 27, 2008, in Yuma. Bob was born May 5, 1933, in Cranberry, W.V. He was raised in West Virginia, one of nine children. When he was 17, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Washington, where he met his wife Irma. They married in 1952 and eventually moved to Minnesota where they raised five children. Bob and Irma moved to Holbrook in 1977 and he worked for Heward Motor Company. He played on the men's softball city league for years. He was the mayor of Holbrook for two terms and also owned and operated the Hilltop Cafe and Butterfield Stage Co. steak house. Bob also managed a restaurant in Show Low. In 1988 Bob and Irma moved to California where he was in RV sales. Irma passed away in 1992 and later Bob remarried Joann and eventually retired in Yuma. He was a kind and giving man and the best dad anyone could ask for. He will be truly missed. He is survived by his second wife, Joann; five children Ruth (Dave) Hoolihan of Grand Rapids, Minn., Bob (Deb) Hagy Jr. of Grand Rapids, Minn., Greg (Riva) Hagy of Cohasset, Minn., Diana (Ron) Gates of Show Low and Melissa (Boney) Candelaria of Chandler; and 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irma Hagy, and granddaughter Jennifer Dixon. Funeral services were held Aug. 30 in Yuma. Sunrise Vista Funeral Home handled arrangements. |
