Thomas Melvin Bourland

COOLIDGE - Thomas Melvin "Tom" Bourland, 81, of Coolidge died Jan. 23, 2007 in Coolidge.

Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Friday, with the funeral at 10, at Valley Community Fellowship Church of the Nazarene. Interment will be in Valley Memorial Park.

Mr. Bourland was born Jan. 21, 1926 to James B. Bourland and Mattie Mae Self in Booneville, Ark., and lived in Arizona 66 years. He served in the Navy during World War II. During his years in the Coolidge area he farmed, worked for Coolidge Engine & Pump Co. and City Transfer Trucking Company. He retired as a mechanic with Coolidge Unified School District in 1990. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Roberta Loyce (Moore) Bourland; two sons, Randy Bourland of Tucson and Daniel Bourland of Coolidge; two daughters, Shirley McCormick of Show Low and Sharon McHugh of Coolidge; a brother, Roy Bourland of Altus, Okla.; two sisters, Mirldean Frazier and Gladys Whitt of Coolidge; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Bourland, in 2000.
