Mariella G. Covey

Mitzie G. Covey, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Sept. 18, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz. She was 88 years old. Mitzie was born in Jackson Heights, N.Y., to Herbert and Mary Gould.

She married her soul mate, Richard Covey, on May 23, 1941, and they shared 66 joyful years until Rich’s passing in September of 2007.

The family moved from Iowa, the Covey ancestral state, in 1959, and Rich and Mitzie lived in Arizona and California from then on.

Mitzie was a member of The Prescott Art Docents, The Phoenix Art Museum and Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, theater, travel and entertaining.

Mitzie was proudest of her family and is survived by her sons and their spouses, Richard and Sue Covey, Prescott, Ariz., Stephen and Dana Covey, Cedar City, Ut., and Robert and Karla Covey, Bethesda, Md.; grandchildren Mindy, Rich, Jenny, Josh, Sara, Alexis and Charles, and great-grandchildren, Luke, Laura, Jackson and Makenna.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott, Ariz.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
