Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson Died May 1

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Anderson, former residents of the Martensdale and St. Charles area, died in an automobile accident at Globe, Arizona on Wednesday, May 1. He was 64 years of age, while she was 59.

Roy Anderson was born at Boxholm, Iowa on April 23, 1910, the son of Oscar and Sophia Johnson Anderson. He moved with his family to Martensdale when five years old.

Anna McKinney Anderson, daughter of James and Anna Simpson McKinney, was born at St. Charles on May 17, 1914. She and Roy Anderson were married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Martensdale in September of 1934.

The Andersons moved to Dallas, Texas in 1964 and later to Globe, Arizona. They were members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Martensdale.

They are survived by three children: Paul of Globe, Arizona; Frank of Hobbs, New Mexico; and Mrs. Ellen Tyer of Winterset. Also surviving are five grandsons. They were preceded in death by an infant son.

Mr. Anderson is also survived by three sisters: Mrs. Pearl Martens and Mrs. Marjory Martens of Martensdale, and Mrs. Mayme Black of Winterset; and one brother, Francis, of St. Charles, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, LaVerne.

Mrs. Anderson is also survived by two brothers: Dale McKinney of St. Charles and Sam McKinney of Des Moines; and by a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Farr of Prole. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and one sister.

Memorial services for the Andersons were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 10 at Blair Chapel near St. Charles, with burial in Blair Chapel cemetery.
