Lt. Col., Ret., James W. Meyers, born Jan. 23, 1919, died Sept. 23, 2008.

Beloved widower, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by our Mom, Debbie, and our siblings John, Margaret, Justin and Jerome.

He is survived by his children Jim Sr., Mary and Bill Cowan, Joe and Linda Meyers, Martha Anderson, Jeff Meyers, Julian and Mary Meyers and Monica and Ron Hess. As well as 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Daddy was a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served his country proudly 22 years.

He fought bravely in World War II and Korea as a B24 bomber pilot.

He was a faithful, loving husband for 63 years, and an exemplary father to 11.

We will miss you so much, Dad. Your impossibly astute wit, your humility, your gentle spirit, and your wonderful sense of humor will live on forever in our hearts.

You stood the test of time; you forged your way through impossible situations and through it all, you emerged a man among men, an impossible act to follow.

You will be missed more than our hearts will be able to endure. Go and be with God, PaPa, cuz the circle won’t be broken … by and by. Good night, sweet Prince, good night.

Funeral Mass will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at Sacred Heart Parish in Prescott. Internment to follow at Prescott VA Cemetery.

Services entrusted to Hampton Funeral Home.
