| Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, October 5, 2008 Vanessa Elizabeth York, age 50, passed away Oct. 2, 2008. She was born Aug. 19, 1958, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Melvin and Elizabeth (Gilchrist) York. She worked as a clerk for juvenile probation in Bakersfield and was a medical insurance clerk at Ventura County Medical Center. Vanessa loved her cats and she also enjoyed exploring new places. Traveling mostly on cruise ships, she ventured to Europe, the Caribbean, Canada and New England. Vanessa is survived by her parents, Melvin H. York and Elizabeth York, née Gilchrist, of Prescott, Ariz.; her partner of 16 years, Robert Kenworthy, of Flagstaff, Ariz.; her sister Melinda J. Long of Bakersfield; and three nieces. A visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, at Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., following the visitation.
