Barbara Jean Morgan, age 72, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 9, 2008. She was born Jan. 24, 1936 in Laura, Ill. to Charlie and Olive (Clark) Rosene.

Barbara grew up a farm girl in Illinois and Iowa, and developed early a love for the outdoors, plants and animals. She married Donald Morgan in 1954 and they lived in several states, eventually moving their young family to Prescott in 1963. Barbara made many friends through her church and volleyball and slowpitch teams. She graduated from Yavapai College in 1978 with a physical education/psychology degree. After moving to Chino Valley in 1988 to start her own little farm, she worked at Watters Garden Center and received her certification as a master gardner. Her last job before retiring was zookeeping at Heritage Park Zoo. Her home and her horses, goats, rabbits, turtles, chickens, turkeys, dogs and cats were a delight to her grandchildren (Matthew and Emily, Joshua and Kristin, Rachel, Elizabeth and Ryan, Rebecca, Zachary, Hannah and Grace) and great-grandchildren (Halle, Noah, Sara Grace, Eli, Luke, Soraya and Baden).

Barbara leaves behind two daughters Deana (David) Irvine of Flagstaff and Donna (Nigel) Adams of Woodland, Ga. and three sisters Mae Luxmore, Irene Sollenberger and Dorothy Reed. She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Eddie, Dale and Donald.

A visitation will be 3 p.m. Oct. 11, 2008 at Grace Baptist Church in Chino Valley with the funeral following at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the church.

Heritage Memory Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave., Prescott, Ariz. will be handling the arrangements.
