Ralph Milo Anderson

Ralph Milo Anderson, 88, of Walnut, Iowa died Sunday, December 1 at Valley Lutheran Hospital in Mesa, Arizona. He was born June 14, 1913 in rural Shelby County, the oldest of three children of Elmer B. and Christina Petersen Anderson. He attended country school in Monroe Township. Ralph married Evelyn Escher on December 31, 1936 at Harlan. They were the parents of three daughters: Beverly, Vivian and Sheryl. Ralph farmed in Monroe Township until moving northwest of Walnut in 1943. He continued farming until his retirement in the 1970s. During his retirement he worked for the ASCS office in Oakland. Ralph later moved to his home south of Walnut, where he continued to reside during summer months. The winters were spent in a warmer climate. He was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut.

Survivors include his daughters, Beverly and her husband Earnest Madison of Omaha, Vivian and her husband James Storjohann of Walnut and Sheryl Matzen of Blair, Nebraska; one brother, Floyd Anderson of Tehachapi, California; one sister, Neoma Anderson of Harlan; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Funeral ceremonies were held at Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut on December 7 with Pastor Doris Ruben officiating. Interment was in Walnut cemetery.
