Gary Phillip Fukayama

Gary Phillip Fukayama, age 61, passed away Oct. 6, 2008.

Gary was born May 2, 1947, in Chicago, Ill., to Harry and Miwa (Udo) Fukayama. In Chicago, he attended Cameron Elementary School and Lane Tech High School. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Circle with a B.S. in Mechanical

Engineering in 1970. In 1971, he married Sharon; in 1977 they moved from the Chicago area to Colorado, where Gary began his career with Borg Warner Automotive. Gary continued to work for Borg Warner for the next 25 years. In 2003, Gary and Sharon retired to Prescott, Ariz., where Gary, with the help of the Prescott Flycasters, was able to indulge in his passion for fly-fishing.

Gary was a loving family man, greatly respected by everyone he encountered. He is survived by his wife Sharon Fukayama (née Koveikis); son Kenneth and his wife Lisa and their daughter Taylor of Prescott; son David of Tempe; sisters Joan Fukayama Cistone, Gayle Fukayama Rowe and Susan Fukayama; and brother Stephen Fukayama.
