Marlene (Scroggins) Reidhead

Marlene Reidhead of Scottsdale died Feb. 10, 2009, after a long and courageous struggle with her illness. She was born Feb. 9, 1940, in Long Beach, Calif.

Marlene was a strong, elegant, graceful, generous and caring woman. She studied dance from a young age and taught dance classes for many years.

She moved from California to Show Low in 1957 and married Jerry Reidhead, the love of her life. She worked as a bookkeeper for Reidhead Lumber Company.

One of her many extraordinary accomplishments was to serve as president of the Show Low Chamber of Commerce. She was well respected in her community and had many adoring friends and family.

She had an unyielding devotion to her family and her friends.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Jerry Reidhead; daughters Susanne Christensen and Patricia (Sherry White) Reidhead of Arizona; and grandson Cody Christensen.

She is further survived by her mother, Virginia Clark, a brother, two sisters, other relatives and many friends, in addition to her father, Thomas Scroggins.

She was preceded in death by her son, Randy Reidhead. In keeping with her wishes, she will be buried alongside her son.

No funeral service will be held. A gathering of family and friends will be held at her home in Scottsdale at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, to celebrate her remarkable life and many contributions.

She will be deeply missed.

Her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to Arizona Humane Society, 1520 W. Dobbins Road, Phoenix, AZ 85041.
