Our beloved father and grandfather, Don B. Gruenwald, passed away on Oct. 12, 2008, in Henderson, Nev.

Don was born on April 25, 1938, in Van Nuys, Calif., to Gladys (Nolind) and Harry Gruenwald. Don's family soon moved to the Arizona area and set up residence in Tucson. When Don was a teenager he moved with his mother and younger brother, Larry, to Prescott, where they bought a ranch in Williamson Valley. Don graduated from Prescott High School in 1956 and went on to college at the University of Arizona.

Don was an electrician by trade and worked all over the southwest, including Tucson, Ariz., Farmington, N.M., and Tempiute, Nev. He began his own electrical company, Camp Wood Electric, in 1977 in Prescott. Don retired in the Henderson, Nev., area after a long stint as a project manager/estimator. Don was one of the very few who had passed the exams and was given the title of Master Electrician by the International Code Council in Clark County, Nev.

In 1979 Don took his three daughters on a river trip down the lower Colorado River through Prescott College and was hooked! He was an accomplished "river rat" who thoroughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of being on the river and often shared this love by taking his family and friends on his many journeys.

Don will be remembered for his kind heart, his helping hand and his generous spirit. His sense of humor and smile could always help you shake a bad day.

Don requested no memorial services; however, there will be an open house at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at the O'Brien home, 693 W. Center St. in Chino Valley.

Don is survived by his companion, Ann Lomaro of Henderson, Nev.; his three daughters, Kelly (Dave) O'Brien, Kristi (Dan) Sullivan, and Karyn (Will) Casner, all of Chino Valley; and his two brothers, Larry Gruenwald of Scottsdale and Nolann Gruenwald of New Zealand. He also had four grandchildren, Ryan McCarter, Hannah and Hunter O'Brien and McKenna Casner.
