Vincent L. Oriet passed on Oct. 20, 2008, at his home in Prescott, Ariz., surrounded by his family. He was born July 18, 1930, in Great Falls, Mont., the son of Lenard A. and Margerite (Dechantal) Oriet. Vince was 78 years old.

Vince first came to Prescott in 1948 with his mother, grandmother and seven siblings. In 1950 he returned to Montana and joined the Montana Air National Guard where he served for seven years in armament. When he concluded his term in the Guard, he purchased an independent grocery store and butcher shop in Lincoln, Mont. Vince came back to Prescott in the mid-1960s and worked as a carpenter. He then spent three years driving over the road for Mayflower Van Lines and Lucky Seven Transfer where he met the love of his life, Loretta, who purchased Lucky 7 in 1968. They were married May 6, 1971. Vince and Loretta sold Lucky 7 in 1982 and retired.

It was very apparent to everyone who knew Vince and Loretta that they were lifetime partners, great parents and best friends. Vince shared his love of the outdoors with his boys and grandchildren. They fondly remember exploring Arizona in his Nissan Patrol and the many camping, fishing and dirt bike trips, with favorites being "Top of the Rock", "Jackrabbit Flats" and Mingus Mountain.

Vince was proudest of his family. Vince was a member of Prescott Community Church.

Vince is survived by his beloved Loretta; stepsons Tony (Nancy) Mahler of Huntsville, Texas, Steve Mahler of Chandler, Ariz., and Michael (Dede) Mahler of Tempe, Ariz.; brother Joe (Ann) of McPherson, Kan.; and sisters Margerite Leckliter of Prescott, Zita Morgan of Sedona and Miriam (Charles) Witt of Sullivan, Mo. He was a devoted Papa to his seven grandchildren, Chad, Sean, Nikki, Kristen, Kelly, James, and Bethany; and two great-grandchildren, Kiersten and Blake; and his constant companion Benji.

A celebration of Vince's life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at the Prescott Community Church, 3151 Willow Creek Road, Prescott, with full military honors by American Legion Post 6.

The family suggests memorial to Hospice Family Care, 100 E. Sheldon, Prescott, AZ 86301.
