Arthur Randolph Gillis

Arthur Randolph Gillis Jr. age 44 a resident of Prescott Valley, Ariz. passed away Monday Oct. 13, 2008 at the Grafton City Hospital. He was born Nov. 24, 1963 in Clarksburg a son of the late Arthur Randolph Sr. and Martha Lee (Howell) Gillis.

Surviving is five sisters, Catherine A. Cowan of Moatsville, Shirley Mae and husband Denzil Wyatt of Camden, Martha "Marty" and husband Bert Strader of Minerva, Ohio, Charlene Donaldson of Angola, Ind. and Darlene and husband Joel Piersol of Lisbon, Ohio; one brother Robert and wife Bobbi Gillis of Norfolk, Va.

Mr. Gillis worked as a night security guard for Asphalt Paving and Supply in Prescott, Ariz. Mr. Gillis served in the U.S. Army and served as military police specialty with the 549th division. He was a member of the FFA when he attended High School, he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gold prospector, metal detecting. Mr. Gillis attended the Evangelical Bible Church of Kasson.

Friends will be received at the Wright Funeral Home, 216 N. Walnut St., Philippi from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 17, 2008 and the service hour will be from 8 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008. Interment will follow in the Peterson Cemetery in Weston with the American Legion Post #44 conducting Military honors.

Wright Funeral Home Services assisted the family with arrangements.
