The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, January 15, 2011 George Wilbur Hammons, 93, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., born April 6, 1917, in Bear Creek, Mo., died Jan. 15, 2011, at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center. Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel assisted the family with arrangements. ~~~~~~~~~~~ The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, January 17, 2011 George W. Hammons, 93, passed away Jan. 15, 2011, at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz. He was born in Bear Creek, Mo., on April 6, 1917. He moved to California at a young age where he met and married Juanita "Nita" Hammons in 1943 and resided in Lindsay, Calif., until moving to Prescott Valley in October 2004. George was a medic during WWII serving in Germany before returning to Lindsay where he was a foreman for the Betz Packing Company retiring in 1983. He was a member of CASA in Prescott Valley, where he enjoyed playing bingo and the people who gather there. George is preceded in death by his wife, Juanita. He is survived by son Jan Collins (Barbara) of Grass Valley, Calif.; daughter JoAnn Carter (John) of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
