Richard Kearns, 80, passed away peacefully Oct. 14, 2008. Born and raised in New York, Richard enlisted in the Marines at age 17, serving his country in China.

For the next 10 years, Richard worked in Saudi Arabia for ARAMCO Oil Co., where he pursued his love of world travel. He returned to New York, and bought and ran an insurance agency, which bore his name for the next 30 years.

Richard retired to Prescott 17 years ago. He was a longtime member of and past captain of the Yavapai County Sheriff's Jeep Posse. He considered one of his proudest accomplishments to be assisting a first-grade teacher at the Washington Traditional School.

Richard is survived by his wife, Carol Ann, and daughters Kathy of New York and Deette and Sherry of California.

The family is honoring Richard's wishes that there be no funeral nor flowers sent. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, please select a charity of your choice.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
