Billy H. Oberle, a Mesa resident since 1946, passed away at his home on Friday morning, September 23rd, 2005, at the age of 85. Billy was born in 1920 in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Kay (Ruby Mae) Oberle, and survived by his son, Terry Oberle, five daughters, Billie Kay Larime, Toni Oberle-Kresicki, Genie Jones, Mitzi Pearce and Sherry Taylor, and his sister Tiny Gray Palmer. He also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Billy Oberle served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps and in the Civil Service at Williams Air Force Base for over 31 years, and was a past president and life member of the American Legion, Post 26. He was active in many charitable activities throughout his life, including work with the Mesa Optimist Club, Meals on Wheels, the Mesa Parents Youth Athletic Association, and as a driver for the Red Cross. Billy was also a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 20 in Mesa.

Services were held at Melcher Mortuary, Chapel of the Roses, 43 S. Stapley Drive in Mesa. Billy will be laid to rest in the Mesa Cemetery next to his wife of 49 years. He will be greatly missed and always remembered for being there for all his family. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to your favorite charity in his name.
