Steve Olson, 55, aka "Grandpa Steve" passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 24, 2005 surrounded by his loving family. Steve was born March 25, 1949 in Devils Lake, ND and moved to AZ at the age of three. He graduated from Kofa High School in Yuma in 1967 and was an alumnus of NAU graduating with a degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. He served in the Air Force from 1973 to 1977. He was currently employed as the Controls Foreman for the City of Mesa. Steve touched the lives of all who knew him with his infectious grin and sweet nature. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Steve was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints and was serving as a Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his father, Ola Olson (Doris); his wife and best friend, Cheryl (Grimm) Olson; daughters, Rebecca Broughton (Rik), Andrea Olson (Troy Comforth), Raan Phelps (Blair); sons, Tjad Olson (Jessica), Tvedt Olson (Lindsey), Tjel Olson (Jaclyn); 4 stepdaughters, Andrea Damiano (Kuen), Allison Craig (Matt), Melissa Taylor
(Scott), Kathleen Thomas (Chad); and 2 stepsons, David Stephens (Stacey), Jay Stephens (Rachel); 21 grandchildren, with four more expected this year. Also, his brother Stewart Olson (Marla); and sister, Paulette Hoots. Preceded in death by his mother, Bernice (Fjalstad) Whittington and grandson, Noah Olson.

Funeral Services were held at the LDS Alta Mesa Stake Center, 5350 E. Mclellan, Mesa, AZ (east off Higley, between Brown and McKellips. Published in the East Valley Tribune on 3/26/2005.
