Daniel Joe Zellner, died Feb. 3, 2006, in Payson. Joe was born May 7, 1918, in Dattle, N.M., to the late Daniel Garett and Elizabeth Betty Jane Zellner.

Joe served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Arizona Bushmasters 158th infantry unit. Joe worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction and later as lumberman when he established Zellner Lumber-fellers.

Joe was an avid horseman and loved horseracing. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors.

Joe is survived by his sisters, Flora, of Wickenberg, and Mae, of Camp Verde; two brothers, Leonard and David, also of Camp Verde; stepson Sam McNiel; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Virginia almost two years ago.

A Memorial Service is planned at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the First Assembly of God Church, 918 General Crook Trail in Camp Verde, with Pastor Michael Garrison, officiating. Following the Memorial Service a picnic lunch will be held at the home of Sosie and Leonard Zellner on Murdock Lane.

Bueler­Hepler Funeral Home assisted the family.
