Michael Anthony Cantrell, "God's finger touched him and he slept." In the early morning hours of August 20, 2003, Michael Anthony Cantrell passed away after a brave battle with cancer.

It took his life but did not diminish his powerful faith in God or his strong spirit. In this respect Michael beat this deadly disease. Michael is now with his daughter Vanessa who joined our Lord on May 22, 1980 after her parents were blessed with her for a beautiful two months.

He is also predeceased by his father Robert Lee Cantrell, formerly of Kansas City, Kansas.

We thank God for the 45 years Michael was given to the world and for the honor of knowing and loving him. He certainly made the world a more enjoyable place. Michael's laugh and smile were his trademark. His love of life, love for his family, and faith in God were unprecidented.

This world was blessed by Michael's birth in Swindon, England on November 20, 1957 and now it is saddened by his passing.

Michael spent his childhood in Bath, England; Kansas City, Kansas, Bitburg, Germany and Litchfield Park, Arizona.

Michael is survived by his loving wife Debbie and his beautiful daughter, Nicole and her husband, Matthew SALUSKY. Michael and Debbie were high school sweethearts and were married for 26 years.

Michael is also survived by his loving mother Hazel FYSH of Phoenix; two older brothers, Philip of Chicago, Illinois; Gary (Eileen) of Mesa and their children Derek and Chelsea; an aunt, Mary MUNCY of Overland Park, KS and 5 aunts and uncles in Bath, England.

He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1975 then went into the U.S. Army in 1977. While in the Army, he was a flight medic assigned to a Crash Rescue Squadron in Yuma, AZ. When Michael left the Army, his calling to help others brought him to the Mesa Police Department where he became a Police Officer in 1980. Michael retired from the Mesa Police Department in 1995. During this time, he served with honor and pride while putting his life on the line to make our community a safer place to live.

Services were held at Central Christian Church of the East Valley, 933 N. Lindsay Mesa, Az. Burial in City of Mesa Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made at any Bank of America branch in Michael A. Cantrell's name.
