Phyllis Ruth (Wingfield) Brown

Phyllis Ruth Brown, born August 25, 1929 in Prescott, Ariz., to Claude P. Wingfield and Irene Laura Wilson Wingfield, eldest of nine children, two girls and seven boys. Phyllis lived in Camp Verde, Ariz. until Phyllis was seven years old, then moving to Phoenix.

She attended Creighton Elementary School and Phoenix Union high School. Married for almost 40 years November 29, 1967 to DeVar Brown, they moved to Norwalk, Calif. for nine years, before moving back to Phoenix. Then in 1981 they moved to Denver, Co. for four years, returning to Phoenix, where she lived until the time of her death.

She worked for Motorola for eight years, then became a full time homemaker. She loved decorating her home and caring for her family.

On the 13th of August 2007, she lost her battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father Claude, brothers Phil, Jack, Johnny and Jerry. Phyllis is survived by her husband DeVar, her mother Irene, children Linda Lee, Danny Blain, brothers Claudie, Gary and Pat, sister Joan Le Roy, seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Visitation 9 AM. with the service starting at 10 am. Saturday, August 18, 2007 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Maryvale Ward, 3802 N. 59th Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hospice of the Valley or The American Cancer Society under Phyllis Brown.

Interment Monday August 20, 2007 at 10 am at the Thatcher Cemetery in Thatcher, Ariz. Arrangements entrusted to A. L. Moore Grimshaw.
