Norma Jean (Tipton) Taylor

Norma Jean (Tipton) Taylor was born June 26, 1931. to Emmett and Leona Tipton in Jefferson City, Mo., and died Nov. 1, 2008, after a prolonged illness. Her father's work took the family to Robinson, Ill., in 1950. There she met the love of her life, Glenn Taylor. They were married July 5, 1952, and celebrated 56 years of blissful marriage this past summer. After several years of marriage about the country in conjunction with Glenn's work, they moved to Tempe, Ariz., in 1970, where Glenn was employed at William's Air Force Base. After his retirement in 1980, they moved to Prescott, Ariz., where she lived until her death.

Norma was an avid quilter and for many years was an active member of the Mountain Top Quilters Club of Prescott. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Glenn; daughter Julie Ann Garand of Reno, Nev.; son Michael Taylor of Prescott; sister Shirley Bandy of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation of Arizona, 225 Grove Ave., Ste B, Prescott, AZ 86301.
