Joy Josephine Valdez, 83, passed away on Feb. 2, 2011 in Lake Havasu City. Joy was born on June 28, 1927 in Montrose, Colo. to Edward and Alice (Miller) Martinez.

Joy moved to Lake Havasu City six years ago from Everett, Wash. where she worked for the Boeing Corporation. She enjoyed playing bingo, but her greatest joy was her family.

Joy is survived by her son, Gilbert Lee Valdez (Jonna) of Lake Stevens, Wash.; daughters Judith Ann Brogan of Lake Havasu City; Cynthia (Jerry) Loyola, of Okanogan, Wash. and Beverly Jean (Randy) Nichols of Moses Lake, Wash.; sister Dolores Trujillo of El Rito, N.M.; grandchildren Keith Brogan, Rebecca Miller, LeAnn Brogan, Joyce Alling, Abelino Valdez, Kristi Alemazkour, Dawn Sandhop, Michael Valdez, Billi Merrick and Carrie Valdez, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Abelino C. Valdez, brothers George, Edward and Wayne Martinez, and sister Gladys Trujillo.
