Rosemary Starr, of North Ranch, passed away on Feb. 5.

She is survived by her husband Daniel Starr. A memorial service will be held at the Yarnell Presbyterian Church on Friday, Feb 18, at 11 a.m.

Rosemary Wade was born July 1, 1924 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the only child of James Wade and Flo Lowe Wade.

She attended Purdue University where she met and married James F. Reed. They had 2 children, Charles and Donna. Jim and Rosemary divorced in 1970 after 27 years of marriage.

She finished her education and graduated from Indiana State Teachers College and received her Masters in Education from the University of Northern Iowa. She taught elementary school for 23 years.

Rosemary married Daniel R. Starr in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1971. They were 3 months shy of celebrating their 40th anniversary.

Rosemary is survived by her husband, Daniel Starr of Congress, AZ; a son Charles F. Reed of Golden, Colorado; a daughter, Donna R. Clingerman of Bluffton, South Carolina; three grandchildren: Julie, Rebecca, and Wade, and one great-granddaughter, Isabel.

During both marriages Rosemary spent her summers camping and touring the country.

She toured Europe on her own one summer. She and Dan traveled to Australia, New Zealand, Alaska, and the Oregon Trail just to mention a few. While living in Iowa, Rosemary was an active member of the American Association of University Women, United Methodist Women, the Symphony Guild, LMI Music Club, Cedar Falls Woman’s Club. She loved the baby grand piano her parents bought her and was an excellent pianist.

While living at North Ranch, Rosemary’s passions were the opera, the book club, her writer’s group where she co-authored Mystery at North Ranch, and her art classes. Rosemary passed away on February 5 only one month after learning she had lung cancer.
