Mr. Robert Carto, 89, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., died Oct. 25, 2008. He was born in Springfield, Mass., on July 16, 1919, to John and Olive Carto.

He first served in the Army 42nd Rainbow Division in Germany for four years; he received the Bronze Star. Following his military service, he was a tool and die maker for 40 years in Hartford, Conn. He retired in Arizona and married Phyllis Porter Gull of Glendale, Ariz.

He was a member of Mensa and also attended Mingus View Presbyterian Church of Prescott Valley, Ariz.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis Porter Gull; daughter Carol Kent of Coventry, Conn.; and son Robert Carto of Columbia, Md.; one granddaughter, Katherine Hannon of Maryland; sisters Mariam Ellenwood of West Springfield, Mass., and Esther Doonesbury of East Long Meadow, Mass.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 3, 2008, at the Prescott VA Chapel in Prescott, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation to the Mingus View Presbyterian Church, 8340 E Leigh Dr., Prescott Valley, AZ 86314, or any charitable organization of your, choice in Robert's name.
