William Evan Weir passed away on Oct. 14, 2008. William "Bill" Weir was born Feb. 29, 1920 in Warren Ohio to Ralph and Hazel Weir.

As a young man, he moved with his family to Burbank, Calif.

Bill served proudly as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air force as a bombardier on a B-17 during World War II. His plane was shot down over Germany on June 26, 1943 and he spent two years in a German prison camp. He was honored with various medals for exceptional achievement in action.

Bill worked over 35 years in the aerospace industry. He worked for North American Rockwell Corp. for 22 years and for Lockhead-Martin until his retirement.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; brother (Edward) and his first wife Mary. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce; son Steven (Debra) and granddaughter Nicole; stepchildren, John (Jodi), Bill (Janine), Scott (Joy) Werner, Kathie Bernsen, Jerry (Sandy), Tom (Teresa), Kathy, Jim, Bill (Carmen) Van Hoof, Mary Sue (Larry) Chapman and Elizabeth (John) Kaufphold. Additionally, 25 step grandchildren and 13 step great-grandchildren.

He will be missed dearly by his loving family and many friends. Bill's love of laughter, gift for telling a story and caring about his friends and family are but a few of the things we will miss.

Graveside services will take place in California and a "Celebration of Life" will take place in Prescott, Ariz.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Family Care of Prescott, 3195 Stillwater Drive, Prescott, Ariz., 86305.

Services entrusted to Hampton Funeral Home.
