George P. Gorham

A memorial service for George P. “Pete” Gorham, 84, of Show Low, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 1 p.m. at the VFW building, 405 Main Street, Superior.

Mr. Gorham passed away Feb. 12, 2007 in Show Low following a long illness.

He was born Feb. 24, 1922 in Superior to Patrick and Mollie Gorham. He attended Superior Schools until his enlistment in the Army.

Mr. Gorham was a World War II veteran, earning a Purple Heart for wounds received as a machine gunner serving in the Philippines.

He was a retiree of Magma Copper Company, first working in Superior until the smelter closed and then transferring to San Manuel’s electrolytic refinery. His remaining years were spent at his retirement home in Show Low Pines where he enjoyed visiting grandchildren and raising his Chihuahuas.

His wife, Alleene, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Patsy and Phillip, and sisters, Barbara and Mary.

Mr. Gorham is survived by his children, Lucille (Henry) Marquez of Mesa, James (Linda) Gorham of Waldorf, Maryland, Pat (Neva) Gorham of Casa Grande, Brenda (Rod) Pike of Phoenix, Kim (Brian) Sharp of Show Low, and Lee Jarrett of Omaha, Nebraska; sisters, Loretta and Patricia and their families; brothers, Jimmy, Tommy, Jack and Danny and their families; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren
