Dr. A. H. Shamberg age 89, passed away Saturday January 7th, at his home in Las Fuentes Resort in Prescott, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his brother Leo, and his
parents.

Al was born March 28, 1916, in Grand Island, Nebraska, to Bertha and Harry Shamberg. He grew up in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, and graduated from the University of Nebraska Medical school in 1940 with the highest honors.

He was a doctor in the Army for four-and-a-half years, retiring as a Major in Abilene, Texas. There he met his wife, Virginia, who was an army surgical nurse. They moved to Kimball, Nebraska, where he had his own medical practice for 40 years.

In 1985 Al retired and they moved to Prescott. He worked for the Veteran's Affairs hospital for four years.

His hobbies included fishing, hunting, golf, reading, traveling, telling hilarious stories about being a doctor in western Nebraska, and being an avid fan of, the Nebraska Cornhusker football team. He also was a Rotarian and took many classes at Yavapai College.

His greatest passion was hls work, knew from as young as he could remember he wanted to be a doctor. He was so dedicated that he made house calls in the middle ofthe night - even in blizzards!

He loved his family and friends. Those who knew him will always remember his fabulous sense of humor, generosity and genuine concern
for the welfare of others.

Al is survived by his brother Jim, of Grand Island, Nebraska; daughter Ginny Hruza of Prescott; his grandchildren, Michael and Dianna Oshiro of Carefree, Ariz., Brady and Tammy Giusta of San Diego, Calif. and Natalie Golonka of Los Angeles; and six great-grandchildren, Mikaela, Kainoa and Sean Michael Oshiro, and Elijah, Kelia and Lei Lani Giusta.

A Memorial service was held Tuesday at Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home. Pastor John Luttman of Tucson officiated.

A Military tribute was given by the American Legion Post 6.
