Claudette JoAnn Downey went home to be with our Lord on Jan. 4th, 2006.

Praise be to Jesus! Beloved daughter of J.D. Rogers and Claudie (Black) Rogers, born in Pear Valley, Texas, on the 2nd of November, 1932.

Whether in Texas, California, or Arizona, JoAnn enjoyed a rich happiness by bestowing timeless memories and embracing warm hugs. Our dear mother, wife, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend shall remain as a pillar of comfort and strength for all of us. This beautiful lady and the gifts of love that she has bestowed on us shall be missed until we are all together again in the presence of our Lord, Amen.
Rest, sweet child of God.

She is survived by her loving husband, Chester Downey Jr.; brother, Douglas Roger (Chris); and sons, Rick Bessett (Rebecca), Randy Bessett (Debbie), and Rodney Bessett (Betty), Chester Downey III (Gwen); daughters, Billie Hullings (Richard), and Donna Head; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her brothers, Art, Jim, and Donn, Rogers and her sister, Nelda Lankford.

Service to be held at the Mingus Mountain campground at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, a celebration of life for JoAnn with a scattering of her ashes. A family and friends reception to follow.

Services entrusted to Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home.
