| The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 19, 1994, p. 2 Anna “Bess” Berger died on January 11 at her home in Wickenburg. She was 82. Mrs. Berger was born on October 12, 1911 in Temple, Texas. Bess and Jim Berger were married on August 1, 1928 in Temple Texas. They moved to Arizona in 1935, where they raised their family. Mrs. Berger was an active member in the First Southern Baptist Church in Wickenburg. She was also an officer and a star point “Martha” in Eastern Star. She had also been past Matron, which takes four years to achieve. Mrs. Berger had been a board member for the Rainbow Girls Wishing Well No. 12 of Wickenburg for many years and worked with the girls, helping with various fund-raisers and accompanying them on out of town trips. She had been a resident of the community for more than 25 years. Survivors include daughters, Molly Troutt of Ramona, California; Velma Thompson of Dana Point, California; grandchildren Brenda Miller, Lollie Troutt, Floyd Troutt Jr., Shelly Thompson, Steve Thompson, Debbie Wimber and Jim Thompson; great-grandchildren Amy cotton, Danielle Miller, Molly Miller, Rachell Troutt, Coty Troutt, Tommy Troutt, Candy Troutt, Sean Wimber, Devan Wimber, Tim Thompson and Torrie Thompson; sister Ima Kerly of Temple, Texas, and several nieces, including Dorothy Vulgen of Albuquerque, New Mexico. Mrs. Berger was preceded in death by her husband James H. Berger in May of 1985. Funeral services have been held. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Southern Baptist Church of Wickenburg, PO Box 1032, Wickenburg, AZ 85958. All arrangements were made by Wickenburg Funeral Home. |
